Flow state initiated.
The flow state is a term that athletes to artists have used to describe that moment where nothing else is in the fringes of the mind, it’s you and the task at hand.
It’s that feeling you get when you’re aligned with your true-self.
To encourage this flow-state / alignment we need to first figure out what creative endeavour sets our soul alight. Now don’t get me wrong, this is not a “how to make a business post” or even a you should make art more (you should but that besides the point). Let’s make a list of the things you have readily available to you to take you closer to that goal. If you haven’t actually considered this before here’s a shortlist of creative activities that you can start with. Note this list can change as you go through life, I find myself drawn to different mediums that I was when I was younger, maybe one day I’ll return to drawing and painting! Here are some examples of creative endeavours to get the artist in you awakened. If you haven’t a clue, try one of these as a starter.
- Writing
- Drawing
- Videography
- Photography
- Carving
- Modelling
- Singing
- Acting
- Calligraphy
By adding just 10-30 min a day in your creative “muse” you can start to build a sense of awareness, as a result, creative work can really help you to realize things about yourself. In fact, this very blog was a creative muse. I had considered writing as a creative outlet, something not adjoined to a camera. This transformed into something that I can share my experiences, as well as help others to work towards their creative selves.
